Perfect timing’ for Leeds large casino licence
Press Release Thursday 8th March 2012
The Leeds leisure and evening economy will receive a major boost from the Leeds large casino licence, which came onto the market in January and is attracting widespread interest from potential operators and developers.
Leeds is the largest of eight local authorities in the UK to be granted a large casino licence, which permits a minimum table gaming area of up to 1,000 sqm.
Speaking at a Developer and Investor Forum hosted by the Leeds City Region at MIPIM, Martin Farrington, Leeds City Council’s Director of City Development, said: “The application process for potential operators and developers is an open process. There is no preferred location or operator for the large casino and no preferred form of development. It could involve either new build or a refurbishment.”
